If you already have your own website and you want to make money from it, there is the choice of joining an affiliate program.
If you've yet to start up your own website then you should contact a web designer with affiliate marketing experience.
If you become an affiliate, it means you earn from advertising other merchants products via your website, by putting text links or banners on your site.
If a visitor to your website clicks on the banner which will take them straight to the merchant's site and if they buy something then you'll make a commission on the sale.
Unfortunately you won't make a fortune just by placing a banner on your site, unless you get thousands of visitors to your site on a daily basis.
But by implementing a few simple marketing techniques even the smallest site could earn you a decent income.
Firstly, try affiliating yourself to a merchant whose products are more likely to be bought by a visitor to your site, there isn't much point in having a link to a cat food seller when your own site concerns PC maintenance.
To begin try taking a look at one of the best affiliate network directories, the 'Commission Junction' it won't cost a penny and neither will it if you link up with a listed merchant.
The whole process has been made very straightforward with no programming expertise necessary.
Promoting anothers' goods on your site is a great way of earning an income all you're doing is pointing someone in the right direction and your responsibility ends there.
You probably have second thoughts about making money from blogging, it's not uncommon for some to think it's unethical, evil or uncool then it's best to leave the whole idea of commercialising your blog alone.
But if you think that the whole idea is fine, then go for it, or if you think it's evil on the other hand then that's OK as well.
You must be absolutely 100% sure in your mind before you begin because attempting to generate earnings from your blog is hard enough, without having to deal with some form of self-sabotage holding you back.
You should feel good about earning income from your blog there's nothing wrong about having a healthy need to succeed.
If you feel that your blog has genuine value to it, then you fully deserve to make some money from it.
There's no way you can be in any way timid about the whole idea though, if you want to put in some ads, then really put those ads in there it has to be the same with requesting donations, don't be shy.
You'll probably get complaints from people when you commercialise a free site, it's not uncommon.
Is it possible for you to make a proper income online? Absolutely. It will take longer if you have a day job but the possibility is there.
In the development teams' own words it is for, "Making money by feeding the Google Monster exactly what it wants whilst you barely lift a finger".
A cool and snappy statement, if a little wordy, but it's not about the use of language, it's about whether or not the product is worth it?.
For the initial setup they recommend you purchase MANY domains, hosting and Niche Devil, then you install Niche Devil on your on your hosting account, you run the script, insert your chosen keywords and your affiliate links for the store you're building and hey presto, Niche Devil spits out a site with content and products and all in a breathtaking 36 seconds! Sounds awesome, now of course you need customers who are more than happy to spend, spend, spend and Niche Devil promises that with the aid of pinging but let's take a step back and look at what makes the whole thing tick.
The script has to be uploaded to your server/hosting account via ftp and your server/hosting account must meet certain minimum requirements
Remember the old BANS stores? Well this is very much in the same vein and look what happened to them
Niche Devil makes a lot of hype about it's "ever refreshing" content, pulling or scraping various bits of media from around the web all related to your keywords, which works fine and looks pretty good but there may be issues over copyrighted material being used.
Niche Devil is promoting itself as with statements such as, "Hurry up, only available for 14 days" which can only raises various issues.
They have restricted the time it is available, why? Is it to make you purchase now or before experience of the product kicks in and reality takes hold and why would you even contemplate selling a product that earns £££ and not just use it yourself.
Number One, you could become a professional Twitter for a company, there's a lot of companies out there who long to join the social media realm but don't have the expertise to pull it off, so they'll be looking for someone with that knowledge and when you see in the job boards "Seeking Twitter Pros" you'll be on a winner.
You could also sell stuff on Twitter, it's not uncommon to find "Special offers for Twitter followers", then you can also try putting together the two hugely successful "micro" ways of doing things, micro blogging and micro funding to create 'Micro fundraising'.
Promoting music. A new service called Tra.kz combines a short URL service with a market place and a music community, which can't do a worse job than the music industry or iTunes online monopoly.
Advertising is always a good way of earning money online and there are two Twitter ads services I've noticed so far: Magpie and The Branch, they both look professional enough not to appear spammy but as yet I haven't tried them so i don't know if you can earn real money without scaring off your followers.
Another Twitter ad solution is Twitadd, this service places banner ads on your Twitter page, You could try sneaking in an affiliate link, there can't be anything wrong with getting commission from something you support already, There's always business opportunities to be found on Twitter, there are daily Tweets from people offering jobs.
Offering Twitter Apps, many companies offer Twitter apps for free, there are more and more professional applications appearing on the web, applications people would pay for, you can't really review a product on Twitter but you can certainly mention it, but not being able to advertise your own content seems unfair.
Twitter may be simple and limited but it uses can be many and varied, many companies will soon require Twitter consultants to guide them through the uses of it in their own particular niche market
Affiliate - What does it mean?
The term refers to someone who has a link to a company. It is widely known to be someone who refers certain products or companies to third parties.
A merchant is the supplier of the goods, the company.
The affiliate is the middle person. The one who makes the sales happen and is the direct link between the merchant (company) and the customer.
How to start
Affiliate marketing programs make the set up very easy.
You may of heard of programs like commission junction. It is where merchants register, and affiliates join to promote the merchants goods.
The first thing to do before choosing and products is to decide how and where you are going to sell them.
What I recommend
Get a website and build it for the products or services you are going to be selling.
You must spend time planning your marketing campaign. Making sure you are able to generate quality traffic.
A marketing campaign involves:
Researching your niche and the keywords customers associate with it
Search engine optimization (seo) techniques both on site and off site.
How much can you make?
You will get paid commission. So if you don't sell, you don't get paid.
That is why your marketing campaign must be done right.
When your site and marketing campaign is launched. All you need to do next is paste your affiliate code on your site. Then you are all set to go.
Whether your website is for business purposes or not, you will most definitely need visitors to it.
With the Internet being as big as it is, you will be just a small fish in a gigantic sea.
How to increase your online presence.
You can increase the traffic to your website many ways. You will first need an Internet marketing campaign.
Know your visitors
Traffic generating programs exist that will send you floods of traffic. These are no good though, unless they send you targeted visitors.
Let us say for example, you had a golf merchandise business, do you think people who stumbled on your site from a pop up related to a breast enhancement site are likely to purchase your products? Unlikely, the conversion rates are going to be low.
You get my point? You need to target your potential customers and make sure they know your there.
Search engine optimization - SEO
Those learning seo for the first time, are often left a bit dismayed. It can be very complicated.
Seo is by far quick and simple. In consist of many on site and off site optimization techniques. It is extremely time consuming.
Here is a simple seo guide if you want to start with the basics. Also, don't be afraid to call in a seo expert. Outsourcing is a wise business move.
PPC -Pay per click
If you want a fast way of getting your site noticed you can try pay per click. It is exactly what it says. You pay for each visitor that clicks on an ad that links to your site. Make sure you learn about this prior to starting.
Get traffic from social networking
Links to your site from blogs, forums and message boards, will bring you traffic.
Whichever route you take for your marketing campaign, one thing you must do is lots and lots of research. A poor campaign will lead to poor traffic.
I hope you have found the above useful.
Having a website that has high search engine ranking, has many advantages. Although learning seo can be a little mind blowing, did you know that the simplest seo mistakes can ruin your chances of search engine ranking.
1. Targeting the wrong keywords
Keyword research is the starting point for your seo campaign. Get this wrong and it is over before you have begun. Make sure the keywords you target are used by searchers and are relevant to your niche.
2. Forgetting to use title tags
Many beginners often forget to use title tags. They are important and tell search engines and visitors what your pages are about. Make sure you use different title tags for each page.
3. Too much flash
Googles spiders cannot read flash when they crawl your site. If you really want to use flash, make sure you also include the html mark-up.
4. Back link spamming
This is something even the best webmasters are failing to grasp. Link farms are not a good thing with Google. You will get much further by getting high quality one way links from website with high pr.
5. Overdoing the keywords
Your content must make sense. If you try and over do the keywords you will get penalized by Google quickly. What you write must flow.
6. Keyword density too high. Keep it below 5%
7. Duplicate content. If you use content that has been used elsewhere, you will get your website sand boxed by Google. Search engines love fresh content.
8. Poor navigation
Your website must contain no broken links and have good navigation. Both visitors and search engine bots need to get around your website.
9. Using images for headers
Headers are the first thing Google bots see. Take advantage of this and use your keywords in the h1 and h2 headers.
10. Unreliable hosting. I have often made the mistake of using cheap hosting. I was not keen on changing but boy did it make a difference when I did. Outages and servers going down will annoy your visitors and confuse Google bots. This will stop you getting high search engine ranking.
1. Keywords
When choosing which keywords you want high search engine ranking with you must research.
Research is very important, target the wrong keywords and your off to a non starter. Make sure people are using the keywords to search in the first place.
2. Who are your competitors?
You are going to beat your competitors to the top spot. You need to first find out who they are and analyze them. Type in your keyword in the search bar...bingo, there are all your competitors.
3. Web pages title
There are two tips for optimizing your pages titles. One is to make sure each page has a different title.
Secondly try to include your main keywords in the title. But, make sure they are relevant and make sense. Don't keyword spam.
4. Meta
Only use meta tags if you understand them. They are not that important. The keyword density has to be spot on.
5. use headings
The keywords that are included in the headers, tell googles bots that they are important.
6. You must always use fresh original content. Google penalizes duplicate content.
7. One way back links are one of the most important ways to get your website ranking high. Remember they must be one way, keyword anchored links.
8. Having a site map will help to get more of your pages indexed.
9. Title and alt tags should always include a description, don't leave them blank.
10. Google loves fresh content. Try to update your website as often as possible.
Seo can be very complex, but it is very rewarding once you get the hang of it. I write many articles on seo for beginners. Don't let search engine optimization blow your mind. Start with the basics and work from there.
This is for all you newbies who have heard the phrase seo and wondering what on earth it is all about.
Seo stands for search engine optimization.
It is a process that is done to make sure website pages are optimized for google and other search engines.
Why do you need to use seo?
One thing any site needs, regardless of it's purpose, is traffic. You need people to visit your website.
You can use many ways of getting traffic to your site, but by far the best one is the free one. If you learn search engine optimization and optimize all your pages you can get free traffic.
Organic search engine traffic is where you naturally rank high on search engines for your chosen keywords.
This is a biggy you want to be concentrating on.
When someone uses google search, they will normally only click on one of the results that appear on the first page above the fold, so you need to aim for top positions.
Where to start?
I am going to write articles for beginners. I wont use big overstated terms and i will take it slow.
At first glance, seo may seem like rocket science, but it is not. It just takes some hard work and dedication.
My advice as you take this journey is to persevere.
What you need to begin
Website to have a fiddle with
Patience
Tons of coffee lol
Right, that is the basic low down on search engine optimization. Now to to get you started on how to get high search engine ranking.
My previous post was about search engine optimization, or seo for short.
Which is best for your Internet marketing campaign? Seo or AdWords?
The answer is simply.......... BOTH.
What is AdWords?
It is a pay per click advertising program.
1. Join google AdWords for free.
2. Enter your settings such as your daily budget.
3. Build your keywords list
4. Write your ads and your away.
Why use seo and AdWords
Search engine optimization will bring you free organic traffic.
Google AdWords will generate fast targeted traffic for your website.
Using seo and AdWords as part of your Internet marketing campaign, will bring you the best of both worlds.
Doesn't google AdWords cost allot of money?
Google AdWords can be an expensive learning curve for beginners. If however, you do it properly, the ROI is pretty impressive.
I wont go into AdWords too much in this post. But one thing i will say is that seo can lower the price you pay for AdWords!
If you are a beginner to the Internet marketing world and did not know which to use, AdWords or seo? Then take my advice...do both.
In my next post i will do a complete beginners guide to AdWords.
search engine optimization (seo) is basically making your website search engine friendly.
If you have an online business then you will benefit greatly from having a seo friendly website.
Even if you already have a good system that brings in traffic, organic search engine traffic is a bonus.
When your website ranks high for particular keywords, you will receive FREE quality traffic.
How to make your site search engine optimization friendly
1. Keyword research
Decide which keywords you want your site to rank high with. They must be associated with your content. Keywords are not restrained to one word. Long tail keywords are more attainable.
2. URL
Not vital but include keywords in your URL if your site is not branded
3. Content
You may of heard some say that "content is king". Although it is important, it is not the only thing search engines look at when deciding your rank.
Your content has to be liked by both your visitors and search engines.
Include your keywords, ensuring your sentences make sense. Keyword density should be below 5% to avoid being seen as spam.
4. Links
The best links are the ones that are one way and keyword anchored.
A one way, keyword anchored link, from a website with high pr is GOLD.
They are the main seo tasks you need to implement on your website.
I would be happy to perform a free seo report on your website.

Ways to Make Money Writing
I am going to have a bit of a brainstorm with you.
If you know of any other legitimate ways to earn money from writing, please feel free to comment.
Blogging - By writing quality content you can attract visitors and then monetize your blog.
Earn money writing greeting cards - Most card companies except freelance submissions.
Content writing - There is a growing trend for freelance content writers, You have to be able to research and write keyword enriched content.
Reviews - In business opinions matter. Companies will pay you to write a review about their products or services.
Make money as a poet - not allot of money out there for poetry anymore, but there are still ways of making a profit. Have you considered building a poetry website, or even entering cash prize competitions. It all ads up!
Writing EBooks - write about anything and sell online. No printing or publishing costs.
I hope the above list has sparked some of your own ideas too.
If you are wondering why I missed out writing a book, it is because it is the most obvious, I wanted to give you ideas you may not of already considered.
If you have a keen interest and writing, then there is always a reader waiting.
Whether you write poetry, fiction or self help, you can grab an audience both online and off line.
When you hear the words "Make Money Free", does it actually mean what it says. There must be some cost involved?
Allot of my articles include the captions "make money for free", so this is what I mean by the phrase....
If you have spent time looking at online money making opportunities, then you will of noticed how different they all are. Some will charge you a fee to join, others will not. The ones that don't charge you, are the ones that I refer to as "Free ways to make money".
Does this mean that money making programs that charge you to join are scams?
Not at all, allot of webmasters that have created a money making opportunity and charge to join it are legitimate. They can charge a join fee because, they have a massive online presence, people trust them and they might as well charge for a product or information they have created.
Why do I write more about free ways to make money?
I write more about ways to earn money for free because, the majority of my readers are beginners. All beginners will experience a very steep learning curve, I don't want you to go through an expensive learning curve too. Play with the free opportunities, then when you are more experienced, you will be able to determine for yourself what opportunities will work and which ones will fail, without being broke.
There must be some costs involved?
Obviously if your doing anything online you will have to pay for Internet access and hosting. If you are using things like auction sites, then there will be listing fees. But the things i talk about won't break you, what you spend is in your control.
Ways or earn money for free
Survey sites
Good old blogging
Your Websites
Pay Per Click
Affiliate programs
Outsourcing
Selling ad space
I would of missed many more ways to make money for free off the above list, but I am sure you will agree. Beginners are on a journey, and the journey is best done cheaply until more knowledge and understanding is acquired.
All website owners, should seriously think about making money from AdSense.
The great thing about AdSense is, that it can be placed on any website, except for those that breach it's policies, like adult sites for example.
What is Google AdSense?
Google allows webmasters, to place ads across its Google mammoth networks. This is called Google AdWords.
You can cash in and earn some of googles revenue, by advertising these ads on your website, this is called Google AdSense.
Just to clarify, AdWords is when you place ads on Google and across other sites.
AdSense is a way of getting paid for advertising other peoples ads on your site.
How much can I earn with Google AdSense?
You will be paid a commission when, someone clicks on one of the ads displayed on your website.
The ads that will be displayed on your website are content targeted.
Having targeted ads on your site, will increase the chances of someone clicking on them. For example, if your website is all about horses, it is unlikely a visitor will click on an ad about cars.
How make more money with AdSense
There are ways of making sure you get the best from having AdSense on your website.
Make sure you don't click on your own ads, it is not worth the risk of suspension.
Place the ads above the fold, right in the eye shot of your visitors.
If you make a website that is purely just for the purpose of displaying Google AdSense, then make sure, you are able to write good content about your sites subject.
Having large amounts of targeted traffic, will be a winner for anyone making money from AdSense. Have a look at my other posts that help you get more traffic.
The potential income from AdSense is endless. You can make a little to cover your web hosting. Or you can make allot of money.
One of the easiest ways to make money on the Internet is to outsource. Many big Internet companies outsource and you can too.
What is outsourcing?
You can outsource anything, the purpose is to speed up your production and turnaround time. Do you think companies do everything themselves? Far from it.
Let us look at things you might want to outsource.
Content
Email marketing
ppc management
products
website
Advertising
The list has only just begun, but I am sure you get my point. Why would you want to do all the work yourself. You don't have to.
How to outsource
Outsourcing requires you to be excellent in communication and research. You need to be able to network with the people you are outsourcing from. And the research is essential for beating your competition.
Marketing outsourced products is huge. It leaves you with more time to make more money and more profits.
Looking for ways to make money online is a bit daunting, especially if you are a beginner. You will not be short of ways to earn money on the Internet, but deciding which one is for you is a tough one.
Where do you start?
I am sure you will agree that the things you are good at are the things you enjoy. The same goes for making money on the Internet. You will have to put a great deal of effort into what you do, in order to beat your competition, so it is important to do something that you actually enjoy. Make a list of some of the things you enjoy. It could be writing, selling products, designing graphics...make the list as long as you like.
Develop your list into a money making plan
With your list of things you enjoy doing, you can turn it into a great money making plan. Let us call it a brainstorm. The thing about brainstorming is, that it opens your mind and helps you to span an idea. Use a separate piece of paper for each activity you write down. On each piece of paper, fill it will all the ideas you can think of for that activity. You will be surprised at the things you come up with. Don't worry if your ideas don't seem to be ways of making money, the thing about the Internet is, that you can earn money many different ways. In my previous post we looked at how you can monetize any website without selling products. The Internet is not just about e commerce.
Getting started
You now should have pages of ideas, full of ways to make money online. I may stress alot about planning, but trust me on this one, without a plan you will fail. It is all about research, projecting your potential earnings, and finding ways to improve. You could in theory develop all of your choices ways to make money, but too many eggs in one basket to start with, will burn you out. My advice would be, to completely develop one idea before you even think about starting another.
How to make sure you succeed
You wont be short of competitors, but one thing you will have more than them is, a firm plan and bags of determination. You need to be amazing at what you do, always offering a different approach than your competitors.
You will of noticed that I have not given you any examples in this post. This is because I want you to begin with your own ideas, and your own unique plans, this way you will finish with success. Try not to adopt any one's ways of making money. Sure you can do the same thing, but do it differently.
Online scammers are getting more clever, you maybe a person who is very level headed and does not fall for money making scams, but unfortunately we are all victims at some point.
Types of Scams
An online scam can come in the form of many types of fraud. From gaining access to your personal information, to providing you with something that was not as described.
Credit Card Fraud
Spoof emails claiming to be from official companies
False auctions
One scam that is hard to pin down as being an actual scam is, get rich quick opportunities. They are hard to class as scam because, the webmaster is very careful in the way they describe the opportunity. The only person likely to get rich from it is, the webmaster themselves.
The only way to not get sucked into a get rich quick scam is, to apply the old saying, "if something seems to good to be true, it probably is".
I am not saying that all money making opportunities are scams, far from it, all I will say is, to get rich or make a decent amount of money online, takes time.
Knowing if a make money online opportunity is legit.
You can check out an opportunity, by checking them out on good old Google. You could even try forums to see if anybody has already tried it.
It is only my opinion, but I believe the way to make money online is, to find a niche and make it your own. Create a way of doing something that is better than your competitor. Nothing wrong with getting involved with an opportunity that already exists. Use free resources sites that help you to earn money for free and give impartial advice.
To make money from your blog you have to monetize it. How you do this will depend on the readers you attract.
Who can Blog?
Blogging provides the online world with information, opinions and views. Many successful bloggers are keen internet marketers. You can however blog for many reasons, each reason will generate a different level of success but either way you can still find a way of making money from blogging.
How to make money from your blog
You can get paid by adding pay per click (ppc) ads on your blog. This is a great way to monetize your blog. You get paid when someone clicks on the ads. You use programs like adsense , bidvertiser and adbrite.
Affiliate products is another method. If you join an affiliate program, you will be provided with a unique code that you paste onto your blog. You write posts recommending affiliate products, when someone buys one of these products through your unique code, you get a commission.
You can sell ad space on your blog which we discussed in the previous post. You must make sure you have plenty traffic before anyone will consider advertising with you.
How much can you earn from your blog?
This all depends on you and your blog. One thing you need to do for sure, is write a good blog that your readers will enjoy. Don't write about something you don't enjoy yourself, your readers will see through it.
Secondly you need to make sure your traffic is targeted. It is not about quantity, but rather it is about quality. If someone for example is a golfer and stumbles on your cooking blog. Will they stay and read your posts? Highly unlikely. This is where Internet Marketing comes in. Successful bloggers are also internet marketers.
I will shut up on this subject for now, but I will write another post very soon that will help you progress and ensure you earn money from your blog.
